Preservation Planning Studies

Preservation planning involves a process of identifying historic properties, evaluating their significance, analyzing their character-defining features, and devising a plan for their stewardship. Studies may entail surveys focused on buildings, landscapes, or any combination thereof, historic structure reports, design guidelines, or master plans, among others, that can take the form of multi-phased reports or substantive guidelines focusing on long-term maintenance strategies. Although many preservation planning studies are initiated by owners and advocates of historic properties, others can be required by regulatory authorities as part of a permitting process. Gregory Dietrich Preservation Consulting brings a wealth of experience and expertise to preservation planning studies as a regulatory agency liaison, principal investigator, project manager, and collaborator in order to produce a comprehensive and informative report that will serve the property's stewards over the long term and/or meet a specific regulatory requirement.
