Located in Long Island's Nassau County, Muttontown Preserve is an enchanting regional asset, boasting both cultural and natural resources that include two former estates and an estate ruin associated with Long Island's "Gold Coast," a Revolutionary War-era dwelling, and wetlands and forests interlaced with a network of hiking and riding trails. Intent on maximizing its environmental and cultural assets, the Nassau County Department of Parks and Recreation commissioned planning firm Saratoga Associates to complete a master plan to inform future preservation, conservation and redevelopment efforts at Muttontown Preserve. As part of Saratoga's consultant team, GDPC completed a cultural resource inventory for integration into the Muttontown Master Plan, providing a crucial first step toward the county's objectives for capitalizing on this rich and diverse collection of resources.
